Steel doors painted to match the marble walls

In the summer of 2008 I was contacted by a general contractor in Washington Dc that was working on the Kennedy Center, the general contractor needed an artist that could paint the buildings large steel doors to match the marble on the buildings exterior walls
They searched for months after the orginail artist could no longer be located, the Kennedy Center needed the 26 doors finished in 16 days,
The Kenndey Center needed these doors finished before the opening of a new opera I decided that I could strt and finish the project in the time frame. So I got everyhing together and worked 10 - 12 hour days in hot August sun, and I finished the project in 12 days.
I was extremly plessed with the finished produc, it was a bit difficult because of the heat and the large amount of people that would stop to talk about what I was doing and why I was painting over the marble, then once they saw I was painting the doors to look like the marble we had a good laugh.

  1. My family and I were just there and I told my husband that I know the guy that painted the doors to look like marble, he laughed at me and sad "I don't see any doors" I laughed at him and said exactly. Great job
